A Bench Built for Capacitor Testing
Applying a capacitor correctly is as important as choosing the right part, and because the life depends on the ripple and the case temperature, the integration decides how long the design lasts. To support customers more effectively, BeiLuo has opened an FAE verification bench dedicated to AiSHi aluminum electrolytic capacitors. The bench lets our engineers measure ripple, temperature rise and capacitance over time before a customer commits to a design, turning advice into evidence.
What We Measure
The bench is equipped with precision power meters, electronic loads, a thermal chamber, high-bandwidth oscilloscopes and a capacity and ESR meter. Engineers characterize the ripple current and the resulting case temperature at worst-case load, measure the capacitance and the ESR over time, and verify the sharing across a paralleled bank. For a lug terminal part the bench confirms the busbar connection and the large-can thermal path, and for a snap-in part it confirms the board-mounted case temperature in a realistic layout.
From Selection to Validation
When a customer asks which capacitor suits their design, our FAE team can now validate the recommendation on the bench. We size the bank, measure the ripple and case temperature, and project the lifetime from the datasheet endurance and the temperature rule. The result is a design path backed by measured data, which reduces the risk of late-stage surprises and shortens the path to a reliable design.
Lifetime Projection
Because electrolytic life roughly doubles for every 10 °C reduction in core temperature, the case temperature measurement is the key input to the lifetime estimate. The bench measures the case temperature at worst-case load and ambient and lets us project the life, and it shows how a small layout change, such as better airflow or more spacing, can add years to the design.
Supporting Customers Remotely
Not every customer can visit the bench, so our engineers share measured curves remotely and walk customers through the interpretation. A short measurement campaign often resolves a ripple or temperature question that would otherwise take weeks of trial and error on the customer's own board.
From Prototype to Production
The same measurement discipline supports the transition to volume. A short characterization of the selected capacitor, captured before release, gives the production and quality teams a reference so any later change is immediately visible, and it supports the supplier qualification file that audit-heavy customers maintain.
Part of a Practical Service
The bench complements our stock and documentation programs. Together they mean a customer can get a genuine AiSHi capacitor quickly, receive complete import documentation, and get measured technical support that matches the part to the job. For manufacturers who cannot afford a field failure, that combination shortens the path to a reliable product and keeps production on schedule.
Bring-Up Support During Design
Beyond measurement, the bench supports bring-up. When a customer's first board powers up and a capacitor runs hot or the ripple is higher than expected, our engineers can reproduce the condition on the bench and compare it against a reference. That turns a vague symptom into a specific cause, whether it is the ripple margin, the case temperature or the bank sharing, and the result is a faster fix and a design that reaches production with confidence.
Root-Cause Sessions
We run short root-cause sessions with customers who cannot visit in person, sharing measured curves and walking through the checks in order, from the applied voltage and polarity to the ripple, the case temperature and the bank sharing. Most issues are resolved in the first session, because the common causes are well understood and the measurement makes them visible.
Documentation for Audits
The bench also produces measurement records that customers can keep for their own quality files. For audit-heavy industries, having a documented characterization of the chosen capacitor, performed before design release, strengthens the supply-chain file and answers questions that would otherwise surface late.
That evidence turns technical advice into a decision the whole team can act on, and it gives the quality team a documented baseline for the supplier qualification file that audit-heavy customers maintain. It also shortens the path from prototype to production, and the same bench can re-check a part after a production change.
That is the lasting value of measured technical support.
